Winter snowy holidays is never enough for us especially my bf, he will grab all opportunity to play with snow especially fresh snow.
This round we are heading Hokkaido for near 2 weeks therefore this blog gonna be long... hahahahaa
Hokkaido is very big, hubby is not keen to keep moving cities to cities thus we will stay in Sapporo throughout and making day trips almost daily.
A picture speaks a thousand words, I have near 500 to share.
Before our flight took off at 0600am, our all time favorite breakfast is....

We landed at New Chitose Airport at 1555hrs on 28 November 2017.
Cool air greeted us the moment we stepped out of the air craft. Yes .. .this is what we want.
After getting crossing customs and getting our luggage, we hastly make our way to our rented apartment at Kotoni as we had made a reservation for crab feast.
The host sent a driver to pick us from Kotoni station to the apartment. The unit was not big but it was very cosy.
We done a little of unpacking before we took a subway to Susukino Kani Honke for our dinner.
Along in Susukino, this is so lively with so many colourful billboards. The ground is wet, there are traces of old snow. The air is chilly, it was 3 degrees.
After a few minutes, with the help of GPS, we found the restaurant. Hot soup for our cold stomaches... perfect !
We had a brief stroll along Susukino after the dinner.
Hubby was very tired ( he was still recovering from flu ) thus we headed home to rest before we hit Sapporo officially on the next day.

We woke up at 8am.. so far no snow yet.. we are waiting for snow..
Headed to Tanukikoji street... there are total 6 sections.
We had breakfast at Doutor cafe located at section 3 of the street. Meanwhile, the famous Don Quijote is located here too, within 1hr, I spent SGD200.00 hahahhaaha.
After breakfast, BF realised that his buddy from Singapore is also in Sapporo and is very near to us.
We decided to let them meet up and leaving some great memories for the boys.
It was barely about 2hr meeting for them but we believe every time they mentioned about Japan in later of their lives, they will surely reminded of each other.
BF done a weather check, snow is coming.
It was too over-rated. There is nothing that fancy about that make us want to stay. The place is about 100m long. We overheard other tourist about feeling negative about the place.
In the end, we went to an "old friend" for a happy lunch.
100yen shop is always on my list - next is Can*Do located at Lafiler which is 5 minutes walk away from our lunch venue. All item at 100yen + 8% tax, which turn out still cheaper than Singapore.

Ito Yakado is a local supermarket, happened to found it in the same building as per Can*Do.

Back to Tanukikoji street to carry on my shopping.
BF stopped by a pet shop to tease kittens.
By the way, saw the carton he's carrying ? That carton contained my Michellin one star ramen.
Weather is very chilly, we ventured into a local cafe for a rest.
I always like to high tea in a local cafe. Different cafe with different ambience but coffee really taste great though with individual's roast.
Along in this street, there is an ABC mart.
Not like Singapore ABC mart, in Japan, ABC mart sells shops with good price.
The boys each got themselves a Nike which are the latest design and not found in Singapore.
The day is so short, only 5pm and it is already so dark. So far, no snow at all...
Dinner at a local chain, something like fast food chain which I had forgotten the name of the restaurant.
The moment we step out of the restaurant, something soft hit our face..
Gosh, it's snowing... much to our delights.
We decided to stroll in the snow, walking from Odori to Sapporo station.

Hubby is not feeling well, his flu came back!
A doctor is necessary now ... We went to Hokkaido Medical centre under the recommendation of our host. Language with the staff there was a challenge but we were impressed with the way they wanna fix it. The receptionist specially got a staff who is not in her department to assist us. This staff keep coming back to check on us to make sure we are on the right track.
The waiting time was an hr, the doctor was able to speak rather good English. There is no dispensary service in hospital. doctor will give you the prescription and you have to get the medicine from pharmacy nearby. We got the same language challenge too at the pharmacy but they are so kind that they printed english version of the medicine for our better understanding.
***Just after one dosage, he can play in snow again***.
It was already noon by the time we sent hubby back to apartment to rest.
BF and me ventured out.
Till about 8pm the we got back with his dinner. To our surprised, he looks good after a dosage.
He can play snow again.

Day trip to Otaru
Otaru, a port city on Hokkaido (Japan’s northernmost island), lies northwest of Sapporo on Ishikari Bay. The city is known for glassworks, music boxes and sake distilleries. Nishin Goten (“herring mansion”), a former fish processing plant built in 1897, explores the industry’s key role in the city’s earlier years. Completed in 1923, the Otaru Canal is now lined with cafes and shops in converted old warehouses.
We took an hr JR ride to Otaru...
It was a wonderful one hr ride. Not only the train is comfort, below are the photos I captured along the ride.
Reached an hr later, the snow here seems to be so fresh and much thicker than Sapporo.
Crossed check the temperature, it is -5 degree celsius.
It start snowing again.... wow !
Below Denuki-koji is a small but picturesque food plaza opposite of the canal of Asakusa bridge and Tourist info counter.

There is another Don Quijote and a mall opposite of the JR station too.
While waiting for our train, we chilled at this cafe for rainbow latte...
Back to Sapporo, it was -3...

The Historical Museum
JR to Shin Sapporo station and take bus number 22 for a 15minutes ride.
It located on a hill top, therefore it is colder than usual... the best part was.. it wa snowing..
Strolling in the snow is our most favourite activity.
There was barely less than 20 visitors, it must be due to winter locals prefer indoor.
All the building strutures here are most from 19th century, all kind of retails shops, service shops during those days.
Lunch at the cafe here... no people.. only us ... but food are good.

Walk back to Sapporo JR to buy our 3day pass for coming day trips to Noboribetsu, Toyako & Furano.
It is cheaper to get the 3days pass if you are going out for long trips in consecutive days.
Separate purchase are much more higher, though the pass cost near SGD200 per person.
Simple and quick breakfast at Mos' Burger.
Today we decided to got to Mitsui Outlet at Kita -Hiroshima.
50 minutes bus ride from Sapporo station at JPY310 per person.
Standard international brands and sport brands are found here.
There are some Japanese brands too like:

Most importantly we found a US's brand : Under Armour

Day trip to Noboribetsu

It snowed very heavy last night.
It's super cold here.
There are alot of sightseeing tourist spots here like :
1) Spa
2) Jigokudani
3) Bear Park
4) Marine Park Nixe
5) River Oyunuma Natural footbath
From the JR station, take a bus to Onsen town.
Seems to be hungry easily during winter.
Here... it is must try for the fried noodles.

The weather was too cold. we only visited the Jigokudani.
By the time we finished this place, the skies is getting dark.
Bear Park & Marine Park - my boys are not keen.
River Oyunuma natural footbath is 1km walk from Jigokudani - they are lazy.
Back to the Onsen bus station, buy the ticket here in the ticketing office & head back to Sapporo.
It is snowing and hailing in Sapporo. Weather condition was pretty bad here.

Mount Usu formed on the southern rim of the caldera containing the lake.
Mount Usu and Shōwa-shinzan are major tourist attractions in the Shikotsu-Toya National Park. A ropeway on Mount Usu takes visitors to viewing platforms overlooking Shōwa-shinzan

Day Trip to Biei & Furano
Today is a very challenging day. We woke up at 4am to have these breakfast at home before going out at 6am.
630am at Sapporo JR, the skies is breaking and the wind is cold.

See, the train is only 1 carriage..
I felt that the winter is pretty harsh here.
We decided to cab over, it was 15 minutes ride, it cost us JPY5760, which is SGD65.00!!
As bus services is very limited, we decided to ask the cab driver to wait for us... Very expensive experience but very worth ... Here are the reasons...
Walk in this snowy way, it will lead you to the Blue pond.
This is the stream from the waterfall to the blue pond. It is on its way to be frozen.
Indeed it is BLUE. Due to winter, it is darker shade, however during summer it is bright blue.
He looked so handsome from the back...
This is then the actual location of the blue pond but it is entirely frozen.
You are not allowed to go closed, fences are up. The ice might soft and you might fell into it.
Took a cab to Asobiya's office for this fun activity.
After this, the staff offer us a ride to Grand Prince Hotel Furano.

This is Ningle Terrace, open at 5pm.
Ninguru Terrace is a beautiful collection of boutique cottages, housing specialty arts and crafts along with their creators. The creators sit there in the shops displaying and making more of their products as you wander around. Located just below the New Furano Prince Hotel, Ningle Terrace has been created using natural materials with timber buildings and a beautiful plank walkway around the waterfalls and trees. The forest gives off a beautiful scent with pine trees and the waterfall creating a wonderful atmosphere for wandering around or stopping in the cafe.
The cafe serves a range of products including hot and cold drinks, baked milk, cakes and cheese platter and some delicious ice creams.
With winter comes a stunning blanket of soft white snow which lines the walkways and leaves huge snow hats on the cottages and snow mushrooms on the trees.
Ninguru Terrace is a different experience again at night with the walkways and buildings lined with fairy lights.
Ninguru Terrace is the perfect place for wandering around and enjoying the sightseeing and beauty, or for getting some perfect souvenirs with a touch of nature and Furano.
It is super duper cold now.
Took a train back to Sapporo. Had a quick dinner as we are overly tired.

Our last full day here.
We are going to Mt Moiwa.

Simple breakfast at Mos Burger again.
Taking subway to Odori, happen to saw this notice : " Beware of molester onboard" .
Took a streetcar(jpy200) from odori station exit 10. stop at ropeway Iriguchi station and take a free shuttle to Mt Moiwa ticketing office. The free shuttle bus stop is diagonally opposite.
Upon reaching the ticketing office, we were being told that due to heavy snow, the visibility level on the peak is 0 so we retreated.

2015 we went 6days TOKYO. 2016 we went 15days CENTRAL JAPAN. 2017 spring we went TOKYO. Now 2017 winter we are heading HOKKAIDO for 12days. Next year we will cover KYUSHU & CHIGUKO areas to complete spreading our footsteps in these cities we are keen . He say we can go anywhere except Sendai.. 感谢老公。。。又一步一步的实现我的"很想要"。
