Top of Denmark : Frederikshavn

“A journey is best measured in companies, rather than miles.”

Frederikshavn is a Danish town in Frederikshavn municipality, Region Nordjylland, on the northeast coast of the Jutland peninsula in northern Denmark. Its name translates to "Frederik's harbor"

Frederikshavn, known locally as 'The Small Metropolis', you will meet an international traffic hub, and the city streets buzz with the sound of many different languages.

This bustling transport hub, site of the terminal for ferries to and from Norway, is a city of 25,000. Primarily a hectic ferry port and shopping pit stop, it's popular with Swedes and Norwegians, who visit to stock up on appealingly priced meat and alcohol.

Boss and I spent a morning here strolling along the walking street before we head back to Saeby for another commitment. We used up most of our energies to fend off the nasty, cold, strong wind in Skagen yesterday so today we decide to "explore light" therefore I promise, this blog will be short. πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜ŠπŸ˜Š

Frederikshavn Train Station
Re-cap from my last blog on Skagen as we did not actually come here today since we took a bus.
As usual, the train platforms is open concept to bus terminal. There is a supermarket - REMA 1000 just at the side of the train station.
After you check in with the bus card and board the train, the conductor will hop up to double check if you had already tapped your card. Frederikshavn shopping street is actually diagonally opposite of the train station. Just follow the direction of Frederikshavn Church.

Cafe Nynne
Took bus 73 from Saeby, 30 minutes that covers smaller roads and residential areas of both Saeby and Frederikshavn.
Cozy cafe located Skolegade, which is interlink from Danmarksgade. Buffet breakfast per person at DKK89 which is SGD19.25, is one of the cheapest breakfast we ever had during the last 6 months here. πŸ˜ In Singapore, we can get breakfast at SGD3.00 which is DKK14 per breakfast.

This is my breakfast plate for the first round. Boss's plate - got his favorite Leverpostej which is pig's liver - a local delicacy.

The dark covered dish is Leverpostej - pork liver

See this photo that I arrowed on an object ? You know what is it ? This is the dustbin in the design of a mega pipe, it is scatter along the whole street.

The is the manhole cover of Frederikshavn which reflected some icons of the town.

Danmarksgade Shopping Street
As mentioned before on my previous blogs, I always love to stroll in the shopping streets of Europe.
Old buildings being restored with fresh paints, each building has a story behind.
Shopping in Frederikshavn, one of Denmark's longest pedestrian streets - Danmarksgade that interlink to several smaller streets along the way.

Frederikshavn Kirke (Church)

Romanesque style church that holds the title for having the second largest seated capacity in Denmark. Great food for my eyes.
Located just a minute away from Danmarksgade and 3 minutes away from Frederikshavn station.

As the door was closed due to a service I guessed, we did not manage to enter the church therefore I got this photo from the goggle.

We have another appointment back in Saeby therefore that's for all on my morning trip in Frederikshavn.
It was such a regret that we did not have the chance to explore deeper because Frederikshavn is actually more than what we had seen. If I have the chance to visit again, I will defiantly put in more time to wander around deep in Frederikshavn.
