"YEOGI"! Dongbaekseom (Haeundae) @ Busan

"Travel is about the GORGEOUS feeling of teetering into the UNKNOWN."

Dongbaekseom Park & Coastal Trail
"Dongbaek" is the English name of Camelia flower while seom means "island".
As the name suggests, the area used to be an island, but now is a part of the mainland. This happened gradually as a result of soil accumulation between the island and mainland and this park is name after numerous Camelia shrubs that grace the park.
Dongbaekseom Park is located in the west end of Haeundae Beach which measure at the length of 1.5km which is nearer to Best Louis Hamilton hotel, the hotel we were residing.
The time of my visit was not the blooming season for Camelia, so I got this photo of this pretty red flower from the goggle. Before

The entrance of the island is just less than 10 minutes' walk from my hotel.
Aside from this pretty skyscraper view on my right, The Bay 101 is also within my view.

On my left-hand side is the famous Westin Josun, no photo was taken by me as I was holding an umbrella.
Followed the crowd, we walked into the walking path surrounded by merry makers and joggers.

The first landmark that crossed our sights is Nurimaru APEC House which was built for 2005 APEC Summit where the head of states from Asia Pacific countries gathered.
Nuri means "World' & Maru means "Summit' - what a wise name for this building.
Today, it is a museum for visitors to understand more about what the VIPs done, dined, seated during that Summit meeting in 2005.

We did not enter the House due to tight schedule, but I managed to get these photos from the google.

Next came to my sight was the Dongbaeksem Lighthouse.
Another lighthouse to add into my collection to this trip! Dongbaekseom Lighthouse is a historical lighthouse that stands at the highest point of the island, comes with an observatory deck where visitors can have panoramic view of the ocean and the skyline of Haeundae Beach.

The views here are so beautiful, the Gwangan bridge, the huge ocean and the smiles of the crowd touches me immensely.

Lighthouses are symbols of safety and protection. They warn sailors of dangerous coastlines, rocks, or shallows, guiding them away from potential hazards. In a broader sense, lighthouses represent a safe harbor or a place of refuge. They provide a sense of security and reassurance, allowing individuals to find their way and feel protected.

Round the corner, there is this lone Korean pavilion that is in a striking red caught my attention.

The scenic coastal trail
The whole trail is built on raised wooden path right next to the ocean.

Suspension Bridge
The suspension bridge along the coastal trail, located near the Mermaid Statue is a beautiful solid architecture. It also provides good vantage point of Dongbaekseom Island coast.

Princess Hwangok Statue
Located not far from the suspension bridge, this 2.5m high statue of a mermaid with a hand holding a crystal ball is about the sad legend of Princess Hwangok who came across from the deep sea to marry King Eunhye. Princess Hwangok suffered from serious homesickness and comfort her sorrows by looking crystal ball which will reflects the scenes of her homeland on each full moon.
Originally constructed in 1974 and was severely damaged by Typhoon Thelma in 1987, a replica was created here in 1989.

The statue of Choi Chiwon & Haeunjeong Pavillion
Choi Chiwon was a renowned scholar and poet from the ancient Silla Dynasty who was credited for naming "Haeundae".
From the circular trail, there are paths leading uphill to Choi Chi-Won Statue, the highest point of the island, or down towards the coastline for the coastal walk.

Haeunjeong Pavillion
This is a notable landmark here in Dongbaekseom that is located within the compound of Choi Chiwon's statue.
It is a beautiful two storey octagonal pavilion with striking colors with traditional Korean architecture.
We missed the paths towards these 2 landmarks, so I got them from the google.
