Shanghai, China (4D3N)

Though it does not snow in Shanghai but the winter of this city is no joke.
Temperature will be minus 0 and the wind will directly poke through your bones!

Had a merely 4days day trip few winters ago but til today I still remembers vividly on this trip.

Arrived Pudong international airport at about 0600hrs on SQ826, the wind was very strong. As we were too early for hotel check in, thus we decided to visit the famous BUND.
The sun was already rised by the time we reached The Bund.
I saw a lot of movies & dramas showing this place, I was already deeply fascinated. Today I am standing here now, I was totally taken despite it was only 2 degrees Celsius..

The Bund has the whole stretch of historical buildings, along the Huangpu River, that commercial activities were run by businessmen from USA, Europe and Japan (八国联军).
Therefore during those days the 2nd name for Shanghai was ’租界‘.
Today most of these buildings (Gothic, Baroque, Romanesque, Classicism and the Renaissance.) from those days are well preserved til now, adding to the beauty of The Bund.

Next tourist spot and breakfast : Yu Yuan(豫园),located in Huangpu district, was constructed during the Ming dynasty thus the architecture there are those ancient buildings from 3 centuries ago.
Coming here, must have is Xiao Long Bao and other dim sum, we decided the famous Ding Xing Lou (鼎兴楼).

Late morning, we went to the famous Xin Tian Di(新天地).
This is a great place for photo taking. It is a mixed taste of antique walls, tiles and exterior of the Chinese and Western architecture housings of old Shanghai. These old housing are now re-construted to retails shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. Surely a great place to chill. In general, it seems to me that this place is catered for tourists and rich locals.
Here are the photos on Xin Tian Di that I grabbed from google, my hp happened to be flatted.

It is time to check into Shanghai Marriot City Centre. I really like this hotel very much.
Not only I was staying on the 23rd floor for the magnificent view, the room was so cozy and most important, it is within walking distance to People's Square. There is also two 7-11 shop very very nearby too.

The next day after breakfast at the hotel, day trip to Suzhou, we went to Zhou Zhuang Water Town (周庄), which is 60km from Shanghai. Another name for this place is Venice of China.
Constructed during the Ming dynasty in the 14th century.
The town is built inbetween of canals, ponds, and lakes behind the nostalgic air of old buildings and stone bridges, boat rides and crafts. All these attributed to today's charming water town scenery.

Lunch here was great, we had the famous Wan San braised pork legs (万三猪蹄). It was so yummy to beyond words.

Back to Shanghai in the evening, we decided for a hotspot dinner and strolling along the People's Square.

Day 3, we decided to visit the Oriental Pearl Tower.
Lunch is Dim Sum again!, the dim sum here are no joke!

Last stop for the trip : Shopping district is People's Square.

This is a very busy district but to me, I do not have the excite feel to shop.
I am glad that my damage for this trip is less, part of the reason was most clothing stores are selling winter products. That's all for my Shanghai.. The feeling I received from The Bund is the greatest reward for this trip.
