Malacca 3D2N Food Hunt Trip April 2018

Every holiday (no matter where) is precious to me cos, every holiday is unique and has it own meaning. :D

We are going for a food trip to Malacca with my neighbor - Peter, Adeline & their precious Jayden.

My humble brief intro of Malacca for those who are not familiar ...
Malacca is a multi-racial city and out of these multi races, I feels that it is the long history of  Peranakan culture that actually attracts me. During the 16th century, people were lured to Malacca due to the city's success and wealth. There was an influx of Chinese immigrants who arrived in an effort to escape from the Manchuria's rule. These immigrant settled down in Malacca and went on to marry local Malay women, the descendents of these inter-racial marriage were known as "Straits-born Chinese" or Peranakan.

Malacca is small, easy to venture around.. Rich historical heritage on sightseeing, shopping and food from various race. This is not my first time to Malacca, I been to the sightseeing places previous time.. This round is strictly more on food & shopping.. and a short getaway for us ... My old man need a break from his busy schedule and BF need a break before he is going to battle with his mid- year exams.

Our Van
We got a van to pick us at our estate which will be with us for the whole trip at SGD650.00
To prevent being stucked in the customs, our getaway start at 3pm.
Driver Alan is 35yrs old with 3 growing kids, lives in Malacca with his family. I think he is reliable and responsible
His company does offer service to drive up to Penang too... He is contactable via whatsapp : +6014-3794174

We were stucked in the custom's jam for around an hr ... consider short ..

Little Nonya's "feel" Home @ The Egerton Melaka
By 1930hrs, we reached our home for 2 nights.
We rented this awesome 3bedrooms at SGD91 per night.
Barely 10minutes walk to Jonker street, Chinatown & Little India

My Homely Café ( Taiwanese food )
Address: No. 297, Jalan Melaka Raya 2, Taman Melaka Raya, Malacca Town, 75000

Jonker Street
Two different worlds between the day & night.
During the day, there are those stationary retail shops from local product pastries, dinings, home products etc.. just like "another usual street"
When it come to night, especially during the weekend, vendors from different products flock in to contribute to the "Famous Jonker Street Night Market" From food to accessories for young to old.

云吞面 - 东方茶餐室
This Wan Tan Mee stall is very "geng", it opens at 2100hrs & will only close the stall when food are sold out. Usually around 0100hrs, they started to close. This is a "4hr wan tan mee stall"
This place is barely 2 minute walk away from my homestay. We went to tabao it.

Restoran Yong Tau Fu Cheng FongWe did not note down on the name of the coffeeshop but it is directly next door of our homestay. Long queue , food is good & most important, the coffee is also very good.

Klebang Original Coconut Shake
Address : Lot 130 Solok Kampung Bahagia 75200 Melaka, 75200 Melaka (open at 11am)

Refreshing drink in a sweltering hot day, must try dessert in malacca, ice blended coconut topped with vanilla ice cream.
Service is very "system-matic", you queue around the food counter, self service whatever you want and pay at cashier and at the same time order the coconut milk shake. Receipt will issue to you after payment, you place it on your table. Staff will go around serve you the drink... it goes well with the nasi lemak... yummy
And not to worry if you drives cause there are ample of parking lots in the area.
This place will be listed on my "must visit" list in Malacca.

A mug of this legendary coconut milk shake with vanilla ice-cream at RM2.70

Palm size nasi lemak at RM1.50

These 4pc cost RM1.05

3 curry puff at RM1.05

The Huskitory Cafe
Address: 27 Jalan Taman Asean, Malacca, Malaysia

Reservation is recommended. Per session is 90mins, per person at RM20.00 (entitled a magnet), no drink included as the dogs might drink it or accidentally swing it to the floor by their powerful tails.
Upon entry, we will be shown to our designated table with our name, staff will brief us about Huskies. There are 3 sessions of meeting the huskies; 1) Meet & play the adult huskies  2) Meet & play the 6months old ones 3) Meet & see the 3weeks old babies.

These huskies are not only well trained, they are well loved too.  Some of them 来头不小, won alot medals in dog shows & competition. Their medals are on displays
Seeing how attached they are to the staffs, you can tell their bonds are very deep.
Staff are friendly & accommodating. They are always there if you want a up-close personal photo with the dogs or friendly advise on your personal dogs even if you do not own a husky.

The leader of the pack of huskies is not a husky... it is a japanese spitz mix with pomeranian whose name is 小白 who always bully the rest. 小白 grew up with huskies and she think she is a husky.
Among the pack, there is a rare pure white one named Maya.

The facade of place, the gate is always closed but not lock, just open it.. close it back.

Briefing time

It is impossible to take such photo unless with the help of the staff. They were ordered to stay still.

This is Oreo, he just laid right infront of me. I guessed he played with too much humans.

Saw the rose among the thorns ?

That is Maya, the rare pure white

Clearer look of Maya

Here below are our last few photos of the 3 weeks old babies. We are only allow to see as they are not ready yet. Soooooo cute..

Bess Kopitiam
Address :  Jalan Medan Pasar, Taman Sin Hoe, Malacca, Malaysia

Great place for breakfast.
The coffee is the best I had in Malacca.
Laksa, no horse run... probably one of the best in Malacca.
Nasi Lemak with additional fried chicken is superb that BF ordered 2nd serving.
The fried chicken, to our surprise is very tender & soft.
This place will be listed on my "must visit" list in Malacca.

Time indeed flies fast especially happy times ( 美好的时刻是短暂的)
It time to "slowly" drive back to Singapore before some "not-to-missed" short stopovers.
We came with 3 luggages and leave with few extra bags.

Yuan Yean Fishball Eating House 元延正宗西刀鱼圓

This place is recommend by driver Alan when we were in Yong Peng. Simple & Delicious

佳佳乐苦瓜汤
Address : 130, Jalan Sutera Tanjung 8/3, Taman Sutera Utama, 81300 Skudai, Johor, Malaysia
Our last stop here.... Cheap & Delicious, short walk away from Sutera Mall. Well recommended ...

Nice soup without bitter taste

That's all for this trip. Though it is barely 3days 2nights, the food we had, I am sure is still not enough. We are very happy with everything ... there is no hiccups at all..
Lastly, I personally feels that kakis play an important part... If you got the wrong kaki then the whole trip will be ruined ...I am glad that my kakis for this round are amazing...Good bonding time..  They are very accommodating too ... I felt so "myself".. Really thankful to Peter who is our  leader, he done all the jobs from booking van to accommodation to the itineary.. side track : I had an experience of wrong kaki before, she was too temperamental, that the whole trip was such a stress one .. I kept worrying if I will say wrong thing that might offend her ... once is enough ...

That's for all for this wonderful food trip, stay tune for next coming June trips to Seoul, Bali & Kyushu.
